Abstract

In this 45 minute talk I discuss the challenges facing small businesses, and how even on a four figure budget it's possible to minimize downtime and maximize disaster recovery ability with hyperconverged infrastructure. Sanoid is the open source platform I developed to make this possible.

I will discuss how to set up triplicate hardware, policy-driven and managed snapshots, automated offsite disaster recovery, and automated network monitoring to truly bring enterprise reliability to the small business environment.

Jim Salter is a voracious open source advocate, technologist, and author. He runs his own business Openoid LCC

Jim first chose open source with FreeBSD and Apache in 1999, and began offering open source solutions professionally in 2002. In addition to a full-time IT consulting business providing open source solutions for a wide variety of clients.

Jim speaks publicly about technology and open source, writes feature articles for Ars Technica and opensource.com, and develops and promotes the Sanoid hyperconverged infrastructure platform.
